Wallace 7s fall in IESA state opener

The Wallace seventh-grade girls basketball team lost to Morton Blessed Sacrament 30-25 in Saturdays's IESA Class 7-1A quarterfinals at Assumption Central A&M Middle School to finish the season 24-1.
The Lady Warriors trailed 10-2 after the first quarter, but sliced the disadvantage to 13-11 at halftime. Wallace was then outscored 11-8 in the third before the teams played an even fourth frame. 
Gianna Leigh led Wallace with 11 points, while Grace Carroll had five, Kendall Lowery four, Reagan Stoudt three and Reese Burgwald two.
Sandwich 7s season ends at IESA state
The Sandwich seventh-grade girls basketball team lost 48-9 to Quincy St. Peter in the quarterfinals of the IESA Class 7-3A quarterfinals at Auburn High School to end the season 15-4.
Allison Olson scored three points and Lily Geltz, Alyssa Broce, Claire Allen two points each for Sandwich.
Wallace 8s finish 2nd at tournament
The Wallace eighth-grade boys basketball team collected a second-place finish at the Millie McDonnell Tournament.
Wallace opened the tournament with a 38-11 victory over Morris ICS as Brayden Bishop had 12 points, Aaron Threadgill eight and Gio Resendez six. The Warriors then defeated Sandwich 48-20, Threadgill posting 12 points, Bishop 10 and Zach Graham seven. Finally in the title game, Wallace fell to Peru Parkside 38-20, Threadgill scoring 10 points and Bishop adding five.
