Shane Simpko: 1973-2017


MARSEILLES — Shane Simpko, 44, of Marseilles, formerly of Streator, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, in Hinsdale.

Visitation for Shane Simpko will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 16, at Elias Funeral Home. Full military rites will be accorded following visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded after visitation.

Shane was born Oct. 1, 1973, in Avon Park, Fla., the son of Gary and Deborah (Whitehurst) Simpko.

He is survived by his daughters, Tatum and Maya Simpko, of Marseilles; his parents, Gary and Debbie Simpko, of Streator; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Simpko, of Streator; uncles, Eddie (Barb) Whitehurst, Jeff (Denise) Whitehurst and Will (Maria) Whitehurst; and several cousins and much extended family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather and his sister, Heather Simpko.
He graduated from Streator High School in 1992 and then enlisted in the United States Navy.
He worked on the assembly line at Vactor Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
Shane loved to be with his children and friends.
