FLANAGAN — The Marquette Lady Crusaders opened their season Monday evening with a 42-28 win over the Fieldcrest Knights in the opening round of the Stone Seed Lady Falcon Classic.
Marquette (1-0) led 11-4 after one quarter, 17-8 at the half and 30-13 through three periods of play.
Anna Sypniewski and Emily Owens scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Lady Crusaders. Maggie Hettel added eight points. Sypniewski grabbed eight rebounds and Hannah Cowie seven. Owens dished out five assists and swiped four steals.
Madi Hock had 10 points for Fieldcrest (0-1). Emma Lorton had nine rebounds. Leah White had three steals.
Serena 49, FCW 46
At Flanagan, the Lady Huskers edged the Lady Falcons in the opening round of the Stone Seed Lady Falcon Classic.
Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland (0-1) led 12-7 after quarter, 26-23 at the half and 36-33 through three periods of play. Serena (1-0) outscored the Lady Falcons 16-10 during the final quarter, though, to get the three-point win.
Susan Tuftie and Emily Hook scored 16 points each to lead the Lady Huskers.
Jadyn Mitchell had 18 points for FCW. Elise Kane added 11 points.

Ottawa 57, Wilmington 15
At the Seneca Tournament, the Lady Corsairs opened their season with a win over Wilmington.
Maddie Carroll scored 12 points to lead Ottawa (1-0). Tanlee Eich and Hannah Holtzman added 10 points apiece.
