Fox-Starr to speak at IVCC for Native American History Month

Illinois Valley Community College’s Diversity Team hosts Cindy Fox-Starr’s “Racial Mascots and Urban Natives of Today” at noon Monday, Nov. 13, in room CTC125 in honor of Native American History Month. Fox-Starr, of the American Indian Center of Chicago, is a first-generation urban-born native of full-blood Native parents. She has been active in the powwow circle since childhood and has been with the AIC for 12 years. She has recently been working with the Chicago Blackhawks organization to educate the public about the true history of Blackhawk and urban Natives today. This event is free and public.
