Operation Christmas Child items can be dropped off locally

Dropoff locations for Operation Christmas Child items will open Monday, Nov. 13, in Ottawa and Streator.

Donors can drop off items that will be used for gift-filled shoe boxes for needy children. The multi-county Three Rivers Illinois Area Team will coordinate the effort.

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, which sends gift-filled boxes to needy children all over the world. Boxes are filled with school supplies, personal care items, stuffed animals, small toys, clothing items and more.

During the project's National Collection Week, Monday, Nov. 13, to Monday, Nov. 20, La Salle County residents will transform empty shoe boxes into gifts of hope filled with school supplies, hygiene items and toys.
