LIBRARIES: Fine Free First Friday coming soon to Reddick

OTTAWA — Upcoming activities at Reddick Library, 1010 Canal St., 815-434-0509 and reddicklibrary.org, will include:

• Friday, Nov. 3, will be Fine Free First Friday. Members can return all overdue materials and the library will waive fines.

• “Shake, Rattle, Read,” a musical story time for children 6 months to 3 years, will take place 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

• The Magic Tree House Travelers group will meet 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. Children from kindergarten through third grade are invited participate in games, activities and discussions based on the adventures of Jack and Annie.

• The Italian Language Group, open to all teens and adults wanting to learn Italian, will meet 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

• The next Tween Scene gathering will begin 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. Guests can come for games, snacks, and fun. Wii, xBox and all kinds of board games will be featured.

• The Loop Group will meet 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. Guests can learn to knit or crochet in a fun environment with knowledgeable people.

• Historian Jim Gibbons will present "The Life of Alexander Hamilton," 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Gibbons will transport guests to the up-and-down life of one of America’s most talked about Founding Fathers, from Hamilton's leap in popularity and fame to his sudden scandalous downfall and tragic death.
