Erma Dell (DeBolt) Duffy: 1928-2017


HINCKLEY — Erma Dell Duffy, 89, of Hinckley, formerly of rural Serena, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 24, at home.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 28, at Hinckley United Methodist Church in Hinckley with the Rev. Sejoon Jang, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in DeBolt Cemetery in Wedron. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Erma Dell was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Harding, to Fred R. and Frances (Kellogg) DeBolt. She was a graduate of Serena High School, Class of 1946. She married Gerald L. Duffy on Sept. 28, 1946, in Ottawa.
Erma Dell was the food services manager at St. Joseph Health Resort for 21 years and was a certified nursing assistant from 1984 to 1998.
She was a member of Hinckley United Methodist Church, past president of the VFW Auxiliary in Wedron and past president of Wedron PTO.
She is survived by four children, Kae (Jerold) Mitchell, of Hinckley, Debra “Duffy” (Jim) Mathias, of Marseilles, Kent (Barbara) Duffy, of Newark, and Kim (Kim) Duffy, of Sheridan; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald, on Aug. 15, 1997; and a brother, Frederick “Doc” DeBolt.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be directed to DeBolt Cemetery or Hinckley United Methodist Church.
