AREA ROUNDUP: Knights score victory heading into playoffs

COLFAX — The Fieldcrest Knights concluded regular-season play Friday night with a 34-6 win over the Ridgeview-Lexington Mustangs in a Heart of Illinois Conference Large Division game.

Fieldcrest (7-2 overall, 3-2 HOIC Large) led 21-0 at the half. Ridgeview-Lexington (3-6, 0-5) didn't score until 4 minutes, 5 seconds remained.
Quarterback Cam Grandy carried the ball 12 times for 138 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to completing 12-of-18 passes for 168 yards and a TD to lead the Knights' offense.
Jaxon Cusac-McKay caught five passes for 78 yards and a TD, while Mike Morse had three receptions for 48 yards. Kenton Castrejon also caught a TD.
 
Girls tennis
Simpson and O'Fallon score state 'W'
At the IHSA Class 1A State Tournament in suburban Chicago, Ottawa's other state-qualifying doubles team, Bailey Simpson and sophomore Regan O'Fallon, went 1-2 Thursday, losing to Belleville Althoff's Olivia Melichar and Mary Nester (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) and defeating Rochester's Bri Williams and Shaling Reynolds (4-6, 6-0, 10-5) before being eliminated by Effingham's Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit (6-2, 6-4).
 
Sophomore football
Kaneland 56, Ottawa 8
At King Field, the Corsairs fell to Kaneland in their season finale in a NIB 12 Conference crossover game.
Ottawa (0-9) got an 84-yard touchdown run by Dalton Gosdin in the closing minute of play. Collyn Gustafson added the two-point conversion run.

Streator 46, Lisle 26
At Lisle, the Bulldogs closed out 2017 with the road victory in I-8 crossover play. Streator's sophomores finish the season with 5-3-1 mark.
