The Central Illinois Regional Airport has a new flight schedule.
Print this storyBeginning Tuesday, April 6, American will add one daily roundtrip flight to Chicago O'Hare and Delta will add two daily roundtrips to Detroit. Delta also will resume nonstop flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul, offering two daily roundtrips beginning Thursday, June 10. Currently, American offers three flights to O'Hare and one daily nonstop to Dallas-Fort Worth. Delta offers one flight to Detroit and four flights to Atlanta. "This is a boost for air travel options from the Central Illinois Regional Airport," said Paul Harmon, chairman of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority. "To add flights that translate to 250 more seats daily on two of the world's largest airlines provides central Illinois travelers with the ability to reach hundreds of destinations on the most convenient schedule possible." The new flights all will be served by 50-seat regional jets to the airlines' major hubs with connections available on American and Delta mainline service. American's O'Hare service will be operated by Chautaqua Airlines as American Connection on Embraer regional jets. Delta flights to Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul will be operated by Pinnacle Airlines as Delta Connection on Canadair regional jets. "The airport has experienced a positive growth trend in passenger traffic in the last several months and the addition of these new flights will help us build on that momentum," said Carl Olson, executive director of CIRA. "We are very pleased to have the nonstop Minneapolis service return this summer with two daily flights, providing easy access to the northwest." CIRA, on Route 9 East in Bloomington, also has daily service on AirTran Airways to Atlanta and nonstop service to Orlando, Fla., four times weekly. With free parking, low fares and its convenient location, CIRA served more passengers than any other airport in the region in 2009. For more information, visit www.cira.com. |
