Ottawa - Jan Ghighi, 32, La Salle, was arrested Monday at 301 W. Lafayette St. on an outstanding La Salle County failure to appear warrant for driving under the influence. Ghighi was taken to county jail.
- Jayson E. McCulley, 35, 1838 Guion St., was cited for disorderly conduct at home Tuesday. McCulley was given a notice to appear date.
Streator - Richard E. Tkach, 23, 803 W. Stanton St., was cited for domestic battery at 705 W. Stanton St. after reportedly kicking his 8-months-pregnant sister in the stomach Sunday. He was taken to La Salle County jail.
La Salle County - Deputies found an abandoned vehicle that apparently was involved in a single-car accident on North 14th Road near East 20th Road in Otter Creek Township at 4:36 a.m. Friday. On Monday, Stephen R. Martin, 21, 1714 Highland Place, Streator, turned himself into the La Salle County Sheriff's Office in connection with the accident. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to report an accident to police authorities and leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage. He was taken to county jail and released on bond.
- Danielle S. Wright, 25, 2560 E. 22nd Road, Marseilles, reported a collision with a deer Monday at 1 p.m. on North 2753rd Road in Rutland Township. There were no injuries.
- Edward G. Merz, 36, 1337 W. Lafayette St., Ottawa, reported a single-vehicle accident on East 2321st Road near North 42nd Road in Serena Township at 6:50 p.m. Monday. Merz's vehicle swerved to avoid striking an animal; the car entered a ditch and struck a private driveway culvert. No injuries were reported.
Fire Calls - Ottawa firefighters responded to a mutual aid call from the Peru Fire Deptartment Monday at 8:21 p.m., joining firefighters from several other departments to be on standby in case needed during an intense blaze that destroyed Crafters Village, 1220 27th Road, Peru.
- Ottawa firefighters responded to a report of high carbon monoxide levels at Kohl's Distribution Center, 4300 MBL Drive, at 9:40 p.m. Monday. An office employee complained of a headache after which Kohl's staff discovered high carbon monoxide levels. They began ventilation procedures before calling authorities. Investigating firefighters found a floor cleaning crew was using machinery that operated on propane and ordered an immediate halt of any indoor propane usage. The building was further ventilated and personnel were relocated away from the office area.
