LONG POINT AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

Long Point American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1217 had its Christmas party Dec. 21 at Chipper's with 13 members.

After the meal, the group collected money for the Flanagan Food Pantry. The amount was matched from the unit treasury. The unit also donated to the Long Point American Legion and the 4th Division bakeless bake sale and quilt raffle.

Arlene Martell reported books were purchased for the Woodland School Library in honor and memory of the unit's gold star members and in honor of the Woodland teachers. "World War I" was selected for the grade school and "Heroes Among Us" for the high school.

The Legion will start fish frys again the second Thursday in January. The group will send cookies to servicemen and women. Addresses can be sent or called in to Marna Tullis or Marian Ruff.

There will not be a meeting in January. Jane Rollins arranged the December meeting, which Martell closed with a prayer.
