Ottawa - Ramon Cortex, 31, 622 W. Main St., was arrested in the 500 block of Columbus Street Wednesday for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. He posted $100 bond.
- Amanda M. Herrera, 24, 1238 Kansas St., was arrested in the 1200 block of Post Street Thursday for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. She posted $100 bond.
- Shawn E. Verly, 38, 616 Second St., was arrested Thursday at 545 E. Norris Drive for possession of drug paraphernalia and a La Salle County failure to appear warrant. He was taken to county jail.
- Brady Smith, 43, 900 W. Jefferson St., was arrested on Champlain Street near Utica Drive Thursday for driving while license suspended. He posted $100 bond.
- Jose Delgado, 25, Aurora, was arrested Thursday at La Salle and West Joliet streets for driving while license suspended, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper turning. He posted $100 bond.
- John R. Grieves, 26, Spring Valley, was arrested Friday in the 1200 Block of Post Street for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. Grieves posted $100 bond.
- Brent D. Allen, 31, 907 Colorado St., Marseilles, was arrested Friday for a La Salle County failure to appear warrant for driving under the influence. He was taken to county jail.
- Acacia L. Klotz, 20, 110 E. Fremont St., was arrested Friday for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. She posted bond and was released.
La Salle County - Jeffery S. Hollenback, 24, of Hopkinsville, Ky. was involved in a single-vehicle, weather-related accident on East Seventh Road north of North 46th Road at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Hollenback lost control of his vehicle on icy pavement and entered a ditch. No injuries were reported.
- Helen M. Kocek, 80, 108 Tammy Lane, Somonauk, lost control of her vehicle and struck a parked, unoccupied truck at 222 Holiday Drive in Lake Holiday outside Somonauk at 9:13 a.m. Saturday. The pickup, owned by Steven J. Gamble, 57, was pushed into a boat on a trailer causing damage to both. No citations were issued and no injuries reported.
- Drew A. Spencer, 26, of Springfield, lost control of his vehicle on icy pavement on East 24th Road near North 30th Road in Rutland Township at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle slid into an orange and white plastic barrier in a construction zone. No injuries were reported and no tickets issued.
- Jose Manuel Santoyo-Martinez, 33, 302 Morrell St., Streator, lost control of his vehicle on icy pavement on Route 71 near East 25th Road in Miller Township Saturday afternoon and entered the ditch. No injuries were reported.
Fire calls - Ottawa firefighters responded to a report of smoke in the basement at 2:36 a.m. Friday at 2702 Everette Road. Firefighters found no fire but did notice the odor of a possible overheated furnace motor. The resident was advised to have the problem repaired.
- Streator firefighters responded at 5:09 p.m. Saturday to a report of a loud noise thought to be a furnace problem coming from the basement in the 800 block of Bazore Street. Upon investigation, firefighters found a rowing exercise machine had been left running.
- Streator firefighters responded at 5:25 p.m. Saturday to an illegal burn in the backyard of 610 N. Wasson St. The fire was extinguished by the property owners and no citations were issued.
- Streator firefighters responded to 609 Everett Street at 10:39 a.m. on Saturday to an alarm set off by cooking smoke. No injuries were reported and the alarm was reset.
- Streator firefighters responded to the 1700 block of North Bloomington Street to stand by after a traffic accident was reported at 3:47 p.m. Saturday. No further details were available.
