ZETEMA

Zetema Club met Dec. 8 at the home of Deborah Sweeden with 16 members and one honorary member. President Helen Thomas called the meeting to order. Victoria Marshall, new member, was introduced and welcomed.

Members volunteered to begin making plans for the celebration of the club's upcoming 100th anniversary. The committee will consist of Judy Wrobel, Phyllis Riordan, Linda Cechowicz, Christy Myers, Deb Sweeden, Vicki Marshall and Diane Sanders. A nomination committee will be appointed at the first meeting in April for the election of the new slate of officers.

Thomas introduced Cechowicz, who reviewed the book, "Cloris, My Autobiography," by Cloris Leachman. Spanning six decades, Leachman starred in 11 Broadway hits, 57 films and numerous television shows. She earned an Academy Award for best supporting actress in "The Last Picture Show," as well as two television Emmy awards. She is a pianist and stays physically fit in her daily life. Described by her fellow actors as notoriously late for rehearsals and having a brusque mannerism, she also is well-admired in her industry as well as respected by many other famous personalities. The actress is quoted as saying, "The value of life is not in the days you live, but how you use those days," and she recently displayed this philosophy by competing on "Dancing with the Stars" at age 82. She was the oldest contestant on the show.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 13, at the home of Charlene Sexton. Becky Carlson will review the book.
