Streator
  • A 15-year-old girl was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Thursday on North Point Drive on a complaint of retail theft. The juvenile was released to her father.
  • It was reported at 7:06 p.m. Thursday someone stole a 37-inch Emerson television from a home in the 600 block of Boys Street.


State Police
  • Jordan A. Bongartz, 20, of Ottawa, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Saturday at Clinton and Main streets in Ottawa on complaints of driving under the influence, blood alcohol content of .08 or more, failure to yield turning left and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. She posted bond.
  • Jon P. Hansen, 53, 10572 Taylor Road, Magnolia, was arrested following a traffic crash at 3:41 p.m. Saturday on County Highway 54 on complaints of driving under the influence, no insurance and improper lane usage. Hanson ran off the road and struck a ditch, went airborne and landed on the property of 509 Cedar St., in Cedar Point. He also struck a tree. Hansen told police he was distracted when he went to put out a cigarette in his ashtray. He refused medical treatment at the scene.
Ottawa
  • Five people were arrested Saturday in the 100 block of Fern Street each on a complaint of consumption of alcohol by a minor:Nick Geiger, 20, of Ottawa; Christian Santoy, 20, of Ottawa; Justin Farro, 20, of Ottawa; Nick Keegan, 20, of Ottawa, and Kenneth Andrews, 20, of Ottawa. They were issued notices to appear. Andrews also was arrested on a failure to appear warrant on a charge of contempt and taken to county jail. Also arrested was Richard Wawerski, 23, of Ottawa, on complaints of disorderly conduct and damage to property. Wawerski posted $100 cash bond.
  • Paul E. Kuiper, 26, of Marseilles, was arrested Saturday at Routes 6 and 71 on complaints of driving under the influence and speeding. He posted his drivers license and $100 cash bond.
  • Amanda M. Warren, 24, of Channahon, was arrested Saturday at Ottawa Avenue and Elm Street on complaints of driving under the influence and speeding. She posted her drivers license and $100 cash bond. Also arrested was passenger Charles P. Swartz, 22, of Marseilles, on a complaint of possession of open alcohol by a passenger in a vehicle. He was issued a notice to appear.


La Salle County
  • Robin W. Hood, 45, of Ransom, struck a deer Thursday at East 2450th and North 2375th roads. No injuries were reported.
  • Jean J. Pinnell, 26, 3686 East 20th Road, Ottawa, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Friday at East Eighth and North 31st roads on a complaint of driving under the influence. Pinnell posted bond.
  • Alexander K. Blockhus, 18, 312 S. Otter Creek St., Streator, was arrested at 2:34 a.m. Friday on Route 18 near East Ninth Road on a complaint of no drivers license. Also arrested was passenger Matthew A. Redd, 22, 1825 S. Harrison St., Streator, on a La Salle County warrant for two counts of damage to property and one count of fleeing and eluding. Both were taken to county jail where Blockhus posted bond.
  • Bari E. Gage, 18, of Ottawa, was in a single-vehicle crash at 6:45 p.m. Saturday on North 2401st Road near East 13th Road. Gage lost control of her vehicle and entered the ditch due to icy conditions. No injuries were reported.


DeKalb County
  • Amber M. Poe, 27, 1350 Anthony Lane, Sandwich, was arrested at 5:14 p.m. Saturday at Latham Street north of Railroad Street on a complaint of no valid drivers license and on a Kane County traffic warrant. Poe was held pending bond.
Fire calls
  • Streator firefighters responded at 3:23 p.m. Friday to a report of a natural gas odor in the 800 block of East Broadway Street. Firefighters found a stove in the basement in which the burner was accidentally left on.
  • Streator firefighters responded at 5:18 p.m. Friday to a report of a car explosion in the 500 block of Montgomery Street. Firefighters found a person burning garbage in a backyard. The person was issued a warning.
  • Streator firefighters responded to a report of a carbon monoxide detector sounding Sunday in the 700 block of Meadow Lane. No leak was found.
