ALTON, Ill. (AP) — Police in Alton say one of three suspects in a 2008 shooting death in the Mississippi River city has been captured in Chicago.

Police on Tuesday drove to Chicago to retrieve 28-year-old Tyrone Rule and bring him back to face a Madison County first-degree murder charge.

Authorities allege it was Rule who fired a gun at 23-year-old Marvin Steward of Alton from a passing car in September 2008 after the victim reportedly had fired twice at the three men.

The shot struck Steward in the pelvis and caused him to bleed to death.

Two other defendants are serving 15-year prison sentences on lesser charges tied to Steward's death.

There's no telephone listing for Rule in Alton, and court records don't show him having an attorney.
