Two men, one from La Salle County and one from Grundy County, are accused of attacking a man who works at the Islamic slaughterhouse in Kinsman — the owner of which is charged with a terrorism plot in federal court in Chicago.

Luke Harty, Ransom, and Scott Finch, Diamond, both 32, are charged in Grundy County with beating Faud Nafie, 35, who works at the slaughterhouse co-owned by Tahawwur H. Rana, Chicago. The facility prepared meat according to Islamic dietary law.

The FBI and other police agencies raided the slaughterhouse Oct. 18. Rana and David C. Headley — Headley changed his name from Daood Gilani — are charged with conspiring to murder employees of a Danish newspaper that published cartoons of the Islamic prophet Mohammed in 2005. Publication of the cartoons angered many Muslims. Prosecutors say Rana used money made from the slaughterhouse to fund the plot.

Nafie's beating occurred about 12:50 a.m. Nov. 22 as Harty, Finch and Nafie left Uncle Dave's Bar and Grille in Kinsman, according to Grundy County Sheriff Terry Marketti. Nafie was treated at a hospital. A hate crime charge could be filed against the defendants.
