FARM RIDGE UNIT
Print this storyThe Farm Ridge Unit of the Home and Community Education met Nov. 20 at Chipper's, hosted by Irene Graham of Grand Ridge. Secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved. Coins for friendship were collected. Kathleen Jonen attended the county "Make It" blanket workshop at the Methodist Church in Grand Ridge. More than 70 blankets were made to be distributed by the Zonta Club for Red Stocking, Red Cross, DCFS and Battle Buddies. A Christmas gift was collected for the Streator Food Pantry. Graham gave the lesson on organic food. Organic foods help raise consumer awareness about where food comes from and how the food is grown. It also develops relationships between consumers and farmers. The next meeting will be a potluck at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Methodist Church in Grand Ridge. Recipes will be taken from the international lesson on Argentina. Jonen and Gert Milam will be hostesses. |
