WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (AP) — An investigator says one of two suspects in a double killing last month in southern Illinois left an apologetic note at the crime scene.
Print this storyMichael Schallert pleaded not guilty Monday in Franklin County Circuit Court in Benton. He's charged with first-degree murder in the West Frankfort deaths of 32-year-old Terri Seibeck and 28-year-old Kandis Majors. Schallert and the second suspect were later arrested in Colorado. During a preliminary hearing Monday in Schallert's case, West Frankfort Police Detective John Prudent testified that a note found at the scene of the killings read: 'Sorry. We did what we had to do.' Both suspects are jailed on $2 million bond. |
