Action by the La Salle County Board Friday helped clear the way for action by the Streator City Council on an enterprise zone for Iberdrola Renewables' 155-turbine Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Farm.
Print this storyThe City Council has held back on its approval pending action by the La Salle and Livingston County boards. Friday, the La Salle County Board unanimously approved participating in the Streator Area Enterprise Zone. Leo Johnson, the superintendent of Pontiac Township High School, told the County Board the enterprise zone would benefit five Livingston County school districts. He said thanks to state incentives, by abating taxes on enterprise zone property the districts will end up with more than they otherwise would receive, he said. "We couldn't be more in favor." |
