ATHENE STUDY GROUP
Print this storyThe November meeting of The Athene Study Group was Friday, Nov. 13, at the home of Joyce Riss. The speaker was Luceille Werner, who discussed many little known facts about the life of Abraham Lincoln, including a book titled, "Abraham Lincoln's Two Mothers," by Dorothy Clarke Wilson. Twelve members attended. The December meeting will be the annual Christmas party at the Pines restaurant Friday, Dec. 11. Anyone wanting to know more about the group (the oldest continuing study group in Streator) may call 815-672-1048. STREATOR LITERARY CLUB The November meeting of The Streator Literary Club was Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Pines restaurant. Patti Massino was the chairperson and Joan Nathan was the annotator. Nine members attended. Joan reviewed five books, including, "Have A Little Faith," by Mitch Albom, "Her Fearful Symmetry," by Audrey Nieffenegger, "The Day The Falls Stood Still," by Cathy Buchanan, "Death and Honesty," by Cynthia Riggs and "The Good Thief," by Hannah Tinti. It was voted to donate a new book to the Streator Library as our Christmas gift, as the club has done in the past. The next meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Pines.
