St. Columba 8th-graders edge ICS

Matt Allen added eight points. Tyler Verona had eight points and six assists. Shepherd boys beat Coal City The Shepherd seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams each beat Coal City. The eighth-graders posted a 39-32 win over Coal City. Michael Donovan led Shepherd (4-2) with 10 points. Jacob Draper scored nine points. Garrett Hoffman and Caleb Smith each had eight points. At the seventh-grade level, the Rams tallied a 24-11 win. Weston Hoffman amassed 10 points, seven steals and five rebounds. Jordan Wilkinson had six points and two steals. Kennth Brent had four points and five rebounds. Jake Ballowe tallied four points and three rebounds. Grand Ridge boys sweep Cornell The Grand Ridge seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams each defeated Cornell on Tuesday. The eighth-graders posted a 44-20 win. The Mohawks (2-1) actually trailed 5-4 after one quarter before outscoring Cornell 32-9 over the next two quarters. Chase Hill had 24 points and seven steals. Dane Lehr added six points and three rebounds. Bryan Dougherty totaled four points. In the seventh-grade game, Grand Ridge walked away with a 34-28 win. The Mohawks (3-0) trailed 10-1 after one period and 16-10 at the half. They then scored 24 second-half points for the win. Schuyler Parks had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Max Vickers added six points and three rebounds. Mo Butler tallied five points and two steals. Seneca 7th-graders fall to Shabbona The Seneca Grade School seventh-grade boys basketball teams each fell to Morris Shabbona. The seventh-grade "A" unit fell 41-3. Grant Hacker had two points. Zach Russell added one point. In the "B" contest, Seneca fell 35-8. Jimmy Kluzek had six points. Josh Seibert scored two points. St. Columba 6th-graders roll to win The St. Columba sixth-grade boys basketball team claimed a 55-20 win over Peru Catholic on Tuesday. Austin Jeanblanc had 20 points and 11 steals for the Spartans. Drew Garland added 10 points. Isaac Gassman contributed eight points while Jack Walsh scored six points and seven rebounds. Seamus McGettigan contributed five points. St. Columba 5th-graders beat Peru Catholic The St. Columba fifth-grade boys basketball team topped Peru Catholic 14-2 with a nice defensive effort. Jacob Jeanblanc, Joe Hawks and Bryce Fanti each scored four points for the Spartans. Fanti also had 10 rebounds. Ryan Mann had five rebounds. Three nice wins for St. Patrick's 5th-graders The St. Patrick's fifth-grade boys basketball team earned three recent victories. First, the Irish shut out Earlville 43-0. Ben Kowalski led the way with 22 points. Dylan Gerding scored eight points. St. Patrick's then edged Marseilles 13-11. Gerding had nine points in that victory. The final St. Pat's win came as it beat Ransom 29-6. Kowalski had eight points. Jordan Sauvageau had six points. St. Francis 7th-graders beat Princeton, Harding The St. Francis seventh-grade boys basketball team claimed two recent victories. The Panthers beat Princeton Logan 27-11. John Henry totaled six points and 12 rebounds. Trent Porter had seven points, while Bryce Roberts scored six points. St. Francis also beat Harding 42-19. Joe Wheatland led the way with 10 points. Corey Hall and John Henry scored eight points apiece. For Harding, Quentin Johnson had eight points. C.J. Norman tallied six points. St. Francis rolls past Princeton, Harding The St. Francis eighth-grade boys basketball team claimed two impressive victories in recent action. The Panthers took care of PrincetonLogan 43-18. Creighton Barnett had 14 points. Jake Stortz had eight points and eight rebounds, and Collin Vandervort tallied six points. Also, St. Francis downed Harding 35-24. Barnett totaled 17 points, while Stortz had six points and 15 rebounds. Trent Porter tallied six assists. For Harding, Josh Long had 13 points. Clint Davis scored seven points. |
