A Peru doctor was arrested during a weekend traffic stop in La Salle.
Print this storyDr. Mario E. Cote, 918 14th St., Peru, was in a vehicle police stopped at 9:07 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Third Street in La Salle. Cote, 56, was arrested on complaints of battery, obstructing police and resisting police. He was released after posting $100 bond. La Salle police would not give details, but did say they gave information on the arrest to the state's attorney's office for that office to file charges. As of Wednesday afternoon, no charges were filed. The Times left a message for Cote at his office Wednesday, but it was not immediately returned. Cote is an internal medicine and geriatrics practitioner who, since early 2009, has been president of the medical staff at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. Cote has been licensed to practice medicine in Illinois since 1990. |
