Print this storyThe "unique" space, up for sale, that opened up in La Salle — St. Roch's Church — is not going to be as unique as it is today, because shortly there are going to be three or four more unique spaces that will be for sale. The four churches the bishop recently suspended will be on the chopping block as part and parcel of additional revenue for the Diocese. Two hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars for the church and rectory will never be sufficient for those who lost their home of worship and are disheartened. It didn't take long for the Diocese of Peoria to put Resurrection church up for sale. I'm surprised the reporter did not know St. Roch's Church no longer exists in La Salle. St. Roch's Church was, years ago, renamed Resurrection Church. Also, I wonder if the old bishop who blessed and dedicated the church to the Lord will turn over in his grave when he finds out these buildings are no longer holy ground and can be sold to the highest bidder.
