A La Salle man, charged with robbing a convenience store in the city, appeared in the La Salle County courtroom of Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Raccuglia Tuesday morning where bond was set at $200,000.
Print this storyWesley Michael Villarreal, 30, 627 Hennepin St., was charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony, after his arrest by La Salle Police for robbing at gunpoint an employee of Casey's General Store, 1302 Fifth St., Oct 23. In court, county prosecutor Jeremiah Adams said investigators studied the store's surveillance video, which showed a masked individual robbing the clerk, following several interviews with local sources, detectives were led to Villarreal. The officers search his home, where they found clothes seen in the video and several air soft guns, which reports claim to be similar to the one used in the holdup. Villarreal, who is on parole for burglary, was arrested Monday. Raccuglia appointed him counsel through the county's Public Defender's Office and set bail. He needs $20,000 cash to be released. If convicted, Villarreal faces anywhere from six to 30 years in prison plus possibly an additional 15 years time for using a weapon during the course of a robbery. His next court date is Thursday, Nov. 12. |
