Ottawa - Nicole L. Timm, 19, 420 W. Washington St., and a 15-year-old girl were cited in connection with a retail theft Thursday at Wal-Mart, 4041 Veterans Drive. Timm was charged with accountability to retail theft and given a notice to appear on court, while the juvenile was charged with retail theft and referred to the peer jury.
- Cody L. Willet, 20, 1123 Main St.; Jermel L. Turner, 20, 900 Paul St.; Susan M. Oswalt, 17, 601 Division St.; and Leslie R. Etheridge,18, 515 DeLeon St.; were each cited for illegal consumption of alcohol in the 600 block of Columbus Street early Tuesday morning. Willet and Turner posted $100 bond while Oswalt and Etheridge were given notices to appear in court.
La Salle County - Mary J. Ruberstell, 34, 1842 Fairway St., Kankakee, was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Route 18 West of East 22nd Road after she swerved to avoid hitting a small animal in the road at 7 p.m. Sunday. Ruberstell was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Streator - Anthony M. Fialko. 18, 423 E, Main St., was cited Sunday for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 700 block of North Harrison Street. He was given a notice to appear in Ottawa court.
- Christina M. Weibel, 28, 508 E. Morrell St., was arrested Sunday on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant for driving with a suspended license. She taken to county jail.
- Santos Mascote, 26, 1206 N. Wasson St., was taken into custody on a Marshall County failure to appear warrant. He posted $200 bond and was released.
Fire Calls - Ottawa firefighters responded to an activated alarm at 5:03 p.m. at the Fox High Rise, 906 Canal St. Upon entering the apartment, firefighters smelled cooking orders and reported a slight haze of smoke, which activated the alarm. The location was ventilated and the alarm was reset. No loss or injuries were reported.
- A reported gas leak brought Ottawa firefighters to the home of Lora Halm, 636 W. Main St., where she reported feeling ill. Halm complained of a headache and claimed her dog also was not acting usual. Firefighters inspected all areas of the home and gas appliances with detection meters. Nothing unusual was found. Nicor gas was notified.
- Streator firefighters were called to an illegal burn at 6:20 p.m. Monday at 201 W. 10th St. after smoldering leaves were reported. The foliage fire was extinguished and no citations were issued.
- Streator firefighters responded to a garage fire at 223 W. Washington St. at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported and no estimate of damage was given.
