Lynn A. DeWilfond has been named director of compliance and special projects at Ottawa Regional Hospital & Healthcare Center.

In this role, DeWilfond will oversee all aspects of the hospital"s compliance program, including compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security regulations, standards required by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and all federal and state laws.

"Lynn has an excellent background and is a great resource on corporate compliance and privacy issues" said Robert Chaffin, Otawa Regional president and CEO. "Her experience and dedication will enhance the quality, safety and security of our patients and staff."

Ottawa Regional"s compliance program exists to improve patient and employee safety while reducing potential risks. It also allows employees to report problems and concerns without fear of retaliation, and provides hospital-wide training programs to ensure all employees are knowledgeable about privacy and security policies and plans.

"I am excited about this opportunity to serve patients and staff at Ottawa Regional," said DeWilfond. "I look forward to helping the hospital continue its mission of meeting the needs of the community and doing my part to ensure they receive quality health care services."

DeWilfond has more than eight years of regulatory compliance experience in a hospital setting. Prior to joining Ottawa Regional, she served as director of corporate compliance at Kewanee Hospital in Kewanee. DeWilfond also held a temporary position as internal auditor at Iroquois Memorial Hospital and Resident Home in Watseka, where she provided assessments and recommendations to strengthen the effectiveness of the organization"s compliance program.

DeWilfond graduated with honors from American Intercontinental University in Hoffman Estates, where she earned an Associate of Arts in business administration. She also has taken numerous continuing education seminars, conferences and college courses on work-related topics.
