Police are baffled by a home invasion that occurred earlier this month in Sandwich.
Print this storyShortly before midnight, Friday, Oct. 2 an intruder cut the screen on a back door to gain entrance to a home in the 100 block of East Third Street. An elderly couple were sleeping in a bedroom. The intruder slashed the man on his neck and cut the woman on her ear. The elderly man needed hospitalization for his wound. Nothing was stolen. Sandwich Police Chief Richard Olson said investigators have no suspected motive and no description of the assailant, not even knowing if the assailant was male or female. Olson noted a town meeting is planned soon, in which this case will be brought up, that will address the changing face of the community and the need for residents to increase their awareness of safety and criminal activity.
