YEPSEN

Air Force Capt. Erika A. Yepsen has deployed to the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The mission of the command is to train, equip, mentor and advise the Afghan National Security Forces. Command headquarters is located on Camp Eggers, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Yepsen, a public affairs officer with five years of military service, is normally assigned to Headquarters, Pacific Air Forces at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. She is the daughter of Steve and Gayle Yepsen of La Salle and granddaughter of Roberta Aplington of Peru. Her brother, Christopher Yepsen, resides in Ottawa.

The captain graduated in 2000 from La Salle-Peru Township High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2003 from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
