Print this storyPresident Jane Vahle presided at the monthly meeting of the Rivercity Ski Club Oct. 19 at the Starved Rock Yacht Club. After the secretary and treasurer reports were approved, members were reminded the annual Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council "Ski Dazzle" Ski and Snowboard Exposition will be Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Gail Graunke resigned as editor of the club newsletter and Jane Cleary volunteered to accept the position. Jim Boisso advised members he will accept the fees from those who plan to join the Ski Kouncil of Illinois for curling Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Waltham Curling Club in Triumph. The CMSC advises all members that the meeting location for their monthly meetings moved to Sawa's Old Warsaw Restaurant in Broadview, effective Oct. 13. Trip leader Jim Boisso announced two members signed up for the club trip to Quebec City, Quebec, during Carnival time, Saturday, Feb. 13, to Saturday, Feb. 20. Final sign-up date without penalty is Wednesday, Dec. 9. No change in listing will be allowed after Monday, Jan. 11. Big White-Silver Star in British Columbia, Canada, is the destination for members Saturday, March 27, through Saturday, April 3. This coincides with spring break at both Ottawa and Morris high schools. Deposits are being accepted for both trips to hold airline and lodging reservations. A valid passport is required for entry into Canada and re-entry into the United States. Nonmembers are welcome to participate in the trips as associate members for a slight fee. Ron Dewey offered printouts of the Joliet Ski Cub trips planned for the coming season. They include Mammoth Mountain, Calif., Sunday, Jan. 24, to Sunday, Jan. 31, and Salt Lake City, Saturday, March 13, to Saturday, March 20. Weekend trips include Welch Village, Minn., Friday, Jan. 8, to Sunday, Jan. 10, and Nubs Nob-Boyne Highlands, Mich., Friday, Feb. 5, to Saturday, Feb. 7. Don and JoAnn Jones hosted the potluck meal after the business meeting. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 16.
