La Salle County Clerk JoAnn Carretto Tuesday filed for re-election to a second four-year term.

The Marseilles Democrat was chief deputy county clerk before being elected clerk in 2006.

Also filing for election Tuesday in County Board District 13 was Susan Thornton, R-Ottawa.

Thornton was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Republican Mike Beavers. In November 2006, Beavers won over incumbent Democrat Joe Panzica of La Salle.

Panzica filed Monday to run in the Democratic primary election for District 13 County Board member.

If Thornton and Panzica remain unchallenged in the primary they will face each other in the November election.
