No one was hurt in a shooting last week in La Salle that landed three boys in the La Salle County Detention Home.
Print this storyLa Salle police said they were told at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday a loud noise was heard and a house window was broken at 856 Ninth St. After police arrived, they found a window shot out with what appeared to be a shotgun blast. Investigation led to a 15-year-old boy from Oglesby and a 13-year-old boy from La Salle, who were taken to the detention home and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, mob action, damage to property and possession of a firearm without a firearm owners identification card. Another 13-year-old boy from La Salle was taken into custody with charges pending. Police seized a shotgun. Besides La Salle police, officers from Oglesby helped, as did a state police crime scene investigator and a Peru police canine officer. Another shooting case involving a shotgun in La Salle occurred in August, in which police said blasts were fired at an occupied car. No one was hurt and three teenage boys were taken into custody. A third shooting in La Salle took place in November 2008, in which two teenage boys shot and wounded two other teenage boys with .22-caliber rifles. The shooters, the mother of one of the shooters and a teenage girl were all convicted of participation. |
