- 1855: The town of Wenona is officially platted by the Illinois Central Railroad.

- 1899: Ottawa"s E. de La Chapelle and Co., glass lamp chimney manufacturer, is destroyed by fire.
- 1907: Leland organizes a fire department.
- 1911: Charles Dorris Ice Cream & Creamery Co. will erect a building at the Northwest corner of Hickory and Shabbona streets in Streator.
- 1937: New cheese plant to open 1808 N. Bloomington St. in Streator.
- 1944: Claudette Colbert, Shirley Temple, and Amos & Andy stopped at the Streator Canteen.
- 1945: Lawrence M. Stein Co. bought Patch's Foundry. Management plans to add new buildings and hire 100 men.
- 1946: Tipton Sales & Service to open International Harvester Dealer at Route 23 and Oakley Avenue in Streator.
- 1950: Ottawa Mayor T. Berton Leamy asks residents to limit their use of coal during the coal miners" strike as supplies dwindle.
- 1951: Trinity Lutheran Church had ground breaking east of Streator.
- 1954: Oakland Park School in Streator was dedicated.
- 1963: Wenona"s Swanson Cookie factory is destroyed by fire.
- 1980: Ottawa"s South Towne Mall opens with a ribbon-cutting in its 118,000-square-foot shopping center.
- 1987: Larry Bianchi, director of SACCI, and Mayor Dale Chiavene, were on hand for the grand opening of Super Wash car wash on North Bloomington Street in Streator.
- 1989: Turk Furniture is closing its store at 311 E. Main St. It had opened in 1987.
