OTTAWA
  • Jose A. Avila, Jr., 20, 613 Fourth Ave., was arrested on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant Monday on Erickson Street near First Avenue. He was taken to county jail.
  • Kevin G. Simpson, 49, 921 W. Jefferson St., was arrested on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant Monday in the 900 block of West JeffersonStreet. He was taken to county jail.
  • Richard Lee Yuvan, 42, of Depue was arrested on a complaint of driving with a suspended license Monday on Columbus Street near Post Street. He posted $100 bond and was released.
LA SALLECOUNTY
  • Katherine L. Middleton, 39, 8851 Finnie Road, Newark, and Lisa A. Swon, 42, 4697 E. 29th Road, Sandwich, were involved in a two vehicle crash on East 29th Road near North 47th Road at 6:40 p.m. Sunday. Middleton said she was headed north of East 29th Rd. when she attempted to pass Swon. As she passed, Swon turned into her own driveway and was struck by Middleton's vehicle. Reportedly, Swon did not use her turn signal. Swon was cited for operation of an uninsured vehicle and there were no injuries.
  • Raul Salinas, 26, 1513 E. Main St., Mendota, was cited for reckless driving on U.S. 34 near Route 21 outside Mendota at 8:35 p.m. Sunday. In the same incident, Nicole L. Zinke, 39, 1205 Sixth Street, Mendota, was charged with endangering the life of a child. According to the police report, Zinke pulled on Salinas' steering wheel causing the vehicle to swerve in the other lane while her two 4-year-old children were in the car.
  • Mark H. Woeckel, 48, 910 24th St., La Salle struck a deer on Route 71 near East 22nd Road in Rutland Township.
SENECA
  • Kimberly Boyd, 43, was arrested Saturday on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant for driving with a suspended license. She was taken to county jail.
  • Billy Talley, 17, was arrested on a La Salle County arrest warrant for two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of violation of bail bond after Talley allegedly posted threats on the Internet. He was taken to county jail on $1,000 bond.
STREATOR
  • Jamie M. Tullar, 23, 1402 E. Elm St., was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the 300 block of North Shabbona Street Sunday. She was released on an individual bond.
FIRECALLS
  • Streator firefighters responded to three separate and illegal leaf burning fires on North Jackson Street at 9:43 a.m.; West Lincoln Street at 2:09 p.m.; and East 12th Street at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. A fire department spokesman said Tuesdays were eliminated from city burn ordinances last spring and the illegal fires were most likely a result of that change. Only warnings were given to those residents. Foliage fires in the city are now only allowed on Fridays and Saturdays.
