LONG POINT AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The Long Point American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1217 met Sept. 21 at the hall with 11 members. President Marna Tullis welcomed new member Dee Hillyer and guests Judy Ehlers and Pat Fagan from Cullom.

The minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Margaret Woltzen gave the report and it was filed for audit. She also reported 71 members dues have been collected, including new members, Hillyer and Mary Ellen Yednock.

Tullis thanked those who brought items for the bake sale at the hall while the Livingston County Health Department gave flu shots. Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle had a bake sale Oct. 2. Shirley Bednar took baked goods from the unit. The club will host bingo for the veterans Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Following the close of the meeting, Ehlers, past 17th District president, presented an award to Dana Jumper for her "Book of Prayers," which won first place in the state contest.

Doris Ragusa served lunch.
