The La Salle County Relay For Life Committee surpassed its 2009 goal by raising a 13-year record breaking amount of $280,310.
Print this storyThe event had 73 teams holding fundraisers throughout the year to make the relay event a success. The final total was announced at the committee's annual wrap-up meeting last week at Naplate Village Hall, where the committee voted to return to the Streator City Park for the 2010 relay event, which will be Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19. Planning for the 2010 event is under way with Cheryl Canale, of Streator, serving as chairman. Members of the committee will be attending the National Summit Thursday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 8, in Dallas, as well as the Illinois Summit in Itasca Thursday, Sept. 24, and Friday, Sept. 25, to ready themselves to plan the next relay. October will start the monthly committee meetings at Naplate Village Hall. The 2010 relay year will officially kick off in January. |
