The Vermillion Inn restaurant in Jonesville is on its way to reopening.
Print this storyTuesday, the La Salle County Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved rezoning the restaurant complex from residential to local business. Although the site has long served as a restaurant, tavern or supper club since the 1938, its official status as a residential site took over after the restaurant ceased operations for more than one year. The rezoning request, which will be voted on by the County Board in September, applies to the restaurant, a house behind it and a parking lot across the street. The rezoning request was presented by Marty Terselic, who along with Mark Marincic and Mark Kudela are the owners. A few local residents attending the hearing. One said the neighbors have welcomed the quiet since the establishment closed. She also offered a lively account of actions by former restaurant chefs and accounts of poor maintenance by former owners, but did not object to the rezoning. "I'm not really objecting because they're local boys: But I hope to Christ they take care of it." |
