Streator
  • Maricela Boseman, 43, 1518 E. 12th St., was cited at 8:47 a.m. Wednesday at Third and Carroll streets on a complaint of driving 50 mph in a 30-mph zone.
  • Norma B. Reyes, 41, 318 E. Santa Fe Ave., Toluca, was cited at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday at the west end of Main Street on complaints of driving 53 mph in a 30-mph zone and driving without a valid license.
  • Byron M. Grossman, 24, 1702 N. Baker St., was cited at 1:04 p.m. Wednesday at Third and Carroll on a complaint of driving 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.
  • James P. Solarz, 52, 112 Ninth St., was arrested at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday in front of the police station on a La Salle County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of larceny. He was taken to the county jail.
  • Desirae D.Harlan, 25, 225 11th St., was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Lundy Street on a La Salle County warrant for possession of methamphetamine. She was taken to the county jail.
  • A 12-year-old girl was taken into custody at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday on a La Salle County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of battery. She was taken to the county detention home.
  • Naomi Brunton, 77, 800 N. Jackson St., was cited at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on a complaint of failure to yield. Brunton's vehicle crashed with another vehicle driven by 38-year-old Catherine M. Widman, of rural Ransom, in the 1000 block of East Broadway Street.
  • Craig A. Breese, 49, 808 N. Everett St., was cited at 9:54 a.m. Thursday at Chicago and Bloomington streets on complaints of driving without insurance and driving while license revoked. He was released with a court date.
  • Nicolas A. Kearfott, 17, 108 E. First St., was arrested at 12:58 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of East First Street on a La Salle County civil warrant and a forgery warrant. An officer said he saw Kearfott and approached him, with Kearfott fleeing into a house. With the resident's permission, police checked the home, finding Kearfott hiding in a closet. Officers also arrested 27-year-old Ronald E. Smith, 615 Chestnut St., Unit 6, Wenona, on a La Salle County civil warrant, after finding Smith in the area. Kearfott was taken to the La Salle County Jail and Smith posted $100 bond, being given a court date.
  • Harold R. Swartz Jr., 37, 404 Richards St., Apt. 6A, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Friday at Bloomington and Chicago streets on complaints of driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. He was released with a court date.
  • Three girls, ages 14, 14 and 13, were cited at 1:49 a.m. Friday at Madison and Boys streets on a complaint each of curfew violation. They were released to their parents.
  • Eight minors were cited at midnight Thursday at 311 S. Bloomington St., on a complaint each of consumption of alcohol by a minor. They were: Eric Arambula, 19, 213 E. First St.; Austin J. Urbanec, 17, 408 Fuller Ave.; Jeffrey A. Harcar Jr., 17, 504 S. Vermillion St.; Darryl S. Lopez, 17, 311 S. Bloomington St.; Caleb T.Elliott, 17, 911 Maple St.; Bethany A. Gubbels, 17, 2318 Teegardin Road; Michael A. Kozlowski, 17, 1519 E. Elm St.; and a 16-year-old girl. The 16-year-old girl was also cited on a complaint of curfew violation and released to a parent. They were all released with court dates. An officer on patrol said he came across the minors.
Ottawa
  • Rebecca Aichele, 18, Ottawa, was arrested Thursday at the police station on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor. She was taken to the county jail
  • Frank Sirtoff III, 48, 121 Jones St., was arrested Thursday at the police station on a complaint of damage to property. He was released on $100 bond with a court date.
  • Kayla Koch, 20, Ottawa, was arrested Thursday at the police station on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of driving while license suspended. She was taken to the county jail.


La Salle County

  • Lawrence L. Koniecki, 48, Marseilles reported at 4:50 a.m. Thursday his vehicle hit a deer on County Highway 15 near North 2825th Road at Marseilles' northern edge. He was not hurt.
  • Diedre D. Sinkler, 23, Ottawa, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Friday near Etna Road and Route 23 in Ottawa on a La Salle County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of theft. She was taken to the county jail, where she was released on bond.
  • Joel R. Heaton, 50, Carol Stream, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Friday at the Shell Oasis truck stop at Route 71 and Interstate 80 on complaints of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper backing and illegal transportation of alcohol. The sheriff's office said deputies went to the truck stop's parking lot after a report a semi-tractor was being driven erratically and had hit property. Heaton was taken to the county jail.
  • Thomas F. Bernasol, 18, Plainfield, was cited at 5:51 p.m. Friday on U.S. 34 three miles east of Earlville on complaints of driving 76 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone and no insurance. He was released with a court date.
  • Anthony B. Fuentes, 31, 1122 Holiday Drive, Somonauk, was arrested at 5:12 p.m. Saturday at his home on a La Salle County warrant for home invasion. He was taken to the county jail, needing $7,500 to be released on bond.
  • A car driven by Adam J. Callahan, 32, New Bedford, Mass., hit a deer at 5:01 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 80, just west of the Marseilles exit. He was not hurt.
Sandwich
  • Ramiro Hernandez, 21, 214 E.College St., was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of East College Street on a complaint of driving without a valid license. He posted bond and was given a court date.
DeKalb County
  • Matt J. McGillen, 28, 1402 Suydam Road, Sandwich, was arrested at 11:11 p.m. Friday at his home on two complaints of domestic battery and two complaints of unlawful restraint. Rachel R. Cypert, 22, 343 Mallard Lane, Sandwich, told deputies McGillen would not let her leave, grabbing her shirt and pushing her with his chest. She left the home and got in her car, but she said McGillen blocked her exit with his car. Cypert was also arrested on a complaint of possession of drug paraphernalia. They were taken to the county jail, where Cypert was released on bond.
Fire Calls
  • Streator firefighters responded to a brush fire at 2:05 p.m.Thursday at 205 S. Illinois St.
  • Streator firefighters went at 11:53 p.m. Thursday and at 4:49 p.m. Saturday to Everett Towers, 609 N. Everett St., where cooking had set off an alarm.
  • Streator firefighters went at 1:55 p.m. Friday to Chicago and Bloomington streets for a traffic crash.
  • Streator firefighters went at 8:53 p.m. Friday to 602 S. Illinois St., where a car backing out hit a gas meter.
  • Streator firefighters went at 10:05 p.m. Friday to 310 W. Bridge St., where there had been a three-vehicle crash.
  • Streator firefighters went at 1:43 a.m. Sunday to 313 Boys St., where a pickup truck had caught fire.
