A missing Sheridan woman was returned to her home safely early Sunday morning.
Print this storyThe 87-year-old was last seen at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The woman is an Alzheimer's patient and wandered away from her rural residence. The La Salle County Ground Search and Rescue Team was called in, along with the La Salle County Sheriff's Department, the La Salle County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, Plainfield Emergency Management Agency, Ottawa Police Department, Illinois State Police, Sheridan Police Department and fire departments from Sheridan, Serena, Utica, Marseilles, Naplate, Peru and Mendota. The volunteers gathered at Serena Fire Station to coordinate search efforts. The woman was found unharmed and in overall good physical condition about a half-mile from the point at which she was last seen. The woman refused medical treatment at the scene and was returned home at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. This was the first call for the newly established La Salle County Ground Search and Rescue Team. The team was founded in December under the La Salle County Emergency Management Agency and has 17 registered volunteers. |
