BUREAU COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
Print this storyThe Bureau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. Frank Polancic will present a program about researching genealogical information in Croatia. Polancic studied and documented his family genealogy and in doing so, realized that Americans are not taught much about the history of eastern Europe. He is a resident of Ottawa and knows La Salle County has many descendants of people from that area of the world. On a trip to Croatia, he found part of what he learned from his family here was incorrect. Actual records there gave him the correct information. It is not necessary to have ancestors from Croatia or even eastern Europe to benefit from Frank"s experiences, as all research has much in common. Neal Drummer spoke last month about the history of La Moille. The BCGS Library hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Other times are by appointment. Call 815-879-3133 with any questions or visit www.rootsweb.com/~ilbcgs. All meetings are public. |
