A woman and a relative of the Da Hittaz drug gang — both with ties to La Salle County — were charged in Bureau County in connection with a shooting Tuesday in DePue.

Delargo L. Gullens and Maria L. Gasca were charged Wednesday with aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied building. The charge is punishable by probation or prison. They are in the Bureau County Jail in Princeton.

Police said Gullens drove by and fired four gunshots at a house in DePue at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday. A man who was involved in an incident with Gasca Sunday in Ottawa is believed to have lived at the house. No one was hurt in the shooting. Gullens and Gasca were arrested at the Tou-Rest Motel in Peru around 3:15 a.m. that morning. A gun was found hidden inside the engine compartment of Gullens' car, a 2004 white Pontiac Grand Am.

The 20-year-old Gullens was listed this week in La Salle County court papers as living at 1371 Monomoy St., Aurora, but has been listed in recent years with addresses in Streator and La Salle. Gasca has had recent addresses in Ottawa, Naplate, rural Marseilles and Streator. At the time of their arrest Tuesday, they were both listed at 3128 Arlington Drive, Princeton, which is in the same subdivision as the house that took the gunfire, even though that house is listed in DePue.

Gullens has convictions in La Salle County for aggravated battery, obstructing police and aggravated fleeing and eluding of police. On Monday in La Salle County, a charge of damage to property was filed against him. Gasca has three convictions in La Salle County for possession of marijuana and one for battery. Gullens and Gasca have both been in prison.

Gullens' mother is 44-year-old Sandy A. Gullens, who is in prison for cocaine offenses. Delargo Gullens also is related to at least four people who were involved in the Da Hittaz drug conspiracy case that unfolded last year in La Salle County, including his 45-year-old aunt, Joy Forbes, and his 24-year-old cousin, Calvin L. Merritte, both of whom went to prison in August for their roles in conspiring to move heroin and cocaine from Chicago to La Salle County.

Other relatives of Delargo Gullens are also in prison, such as his brother, 23-year-old Darryl D. Gullens Jr., who shot to death two teenagers during a drug deal in 2005 in Rockford.
