A 44-year-old Wenona woman died as a result of a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Livingston County.

Penny Eggers was pronounced dead at 4 p.m. in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was flown there from the scene of the crash, which was on Route 17 at 300 East Road, near Ancona.

State police said Eggers was a front passenger in a 2001 Honda Civic driven by her daughter, 24-year-old Jennifer R. Wargo, Streator, that was going west on Route 17 and turned left into the path of an oncoming 2002 Buick driven by 79-year-old Harold J. Kennell, Wenona. The Civic was hit on its passenger side, causing the car to leave the road and roll. The crash occurred at about 1:39 p.m.

Jennifer Wargo and her other passenger, 17-year-old Emily Wargo, of the same address as Penny Eggers, were injured, with Jennifer taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Streator and Emily to OSF St. Francis. Emily was listed Monday afternoon in serious condition. St. Mary's does not provide condition reports.

Harold Kennell and his passenger, 79-year-old Louise M. Kennell, of the same address as Harold, were taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

State police said all the occupants were wearing seat belts and both vehicles were totaled.
