LIVINGSTON COUNTY COUNCIL OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Print this storyLivingston County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary met March 30, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Pontiac. Ann Legner of the Pontiac unit welcomed everyone and introduced a singing quartet, Jean Elliot, Jackie Mays, Diana Pfleger and Dora Imnke, who performed. Judy Ehlers, president of the Cullom unit, opened the meeting. Roll call was answered by the president or representative of the eight units present and each gave a brief report of her unit's activities since the last meeting in September. There were 34 members present including three from Flanagan, seven from Cornell and three, Jane Rollins, Margaret Woltzen and Marna Tullis, from Long Point. President Ehlers appointed Luci Haberkorn of Chatsworth, Diane Rieger of Forrest and Carol Cantrell of Saunemin to the nominating committee for 2009 to 2010 and 2010 to 2011 officers. Sherryl Nelson, district poppy chairwoman, gave a brief report of all poppy contests planned for the district meeting in June and encouraged everyone to enter at least one of the contests. Lorena Metz, district Girls State chairwoman, announced that the Girls State Tea will be Wednesday, May 27, in Cullom. Ehlers announced the 17th District is first in the membership race and encouraged units that were not at goal to try to collect dues from the few members who have not yet paid. The Monday, June 29, meeting will be in Chatsworth and the Monday, Aug. 31, meeting will be in Saunemin. The past presidents' parley luncheon will be Satyrday, April 25, at the VFW Hall in Pontiac and the 17th District Spring Convention will be Saturday, June 6, in Washburn. The meeting closed with prayer and singing of "God Bless America." The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. June 29 in Chatsworth. |
