PHOTOS: La Salle County Genealogy Guild celebrates 40 years

La Salle County Genealogy Guild’s Julie Hallock draws attention Saturday to the large photo of Bob Jordan displayed at the newly-remodeled Genealogy Guild. Through his generosity, he gave the guild its permanent home by buying the current building and deeding it to the non-profit organization. Upon his passing, he left them money to make improvements whenever the guild should need it. Before landing on Grover Street in Ottawa, the guild had kept records in their cars and carried them from location to location. First in the basement of the La Salle County Historical Society, then in Reddick Mansion and finally at the county courthouse, the guild now celebrates its 40th anniversary, not only serving La Salle County but also visitors from all over the globe whose relatives were once a part of the community.
Jim Keating records information through microfilm to PDF format so it may be looked up when guests visit the guild.
Linda Linden, of Ottawa, has just started to expand upon the research her parents started and sneaks in some moments of research before the guild starts their 40th anniversary celebration Saturday.
