La Salle County has completed its tax deed proceedings on real estate properties that were delinquent for 2015, mobile homes that were delinquent for 2016 and prior real estate taxes.
The county, as trustee, now will offer for sale the real estate and mobile homes to the public. About 140 real estate items and 18 mobile homes will be available through a sealed bid auction sale. All sealed bids must be in the La Salle County Treasurer's Office, 707 E. Etna Road, Ottawa, no later than the close of the business day Friday, Aug. 30.
The required minimum bid on real estate is $818. For mobile homes, the minimum is $900. All items will be sold to the highest sealed bid received on or before Aug. 30. Complete bidder's packets and sale catalogs are available at the La Salle County Treasurer's Office or online at iltaxsale.com.
The sale of the lots and mobile homes should be a benefit to both the taxing district and neighboring property owners, county officials said in a news release. By eliminating abandoned properties, the appearance of neighborhoods should improve and the value of adjoining properties should increase.
