OMAHA, Neb. — Three days, three games, five home runs from Michael Hermosillo.
Playing for the Triple A Salt Lake Bees in the Los Angeles Angels' system, Hermosillo — a 2013 Ottawa High School graduate and two-time Times Baseball Player of the Year — followed up two-homer performances both Wednesday and Thursday against host Omaha with another long ball Friday night against the Storm Chasers in the Bees' 5-4 extra-inning win at Werner Park.
Hermosillo's solo bomb to left leading off the seventh against Omaha starter Jake Kalish on Friday tied the contest at 2-2. He then posted a sacrifice fly in the 11th — part of a three-run frame for Salt Lake — to finish the three-game series 6-for-13 with 11 RBIs.
On Thursday, he slugged his first home run in the third inning, a three-run, two-out blast off Storm Chasers reliever and ultimate winning pitcher Brian Flynn. The Ottawa outfielder then slugged his second home run of the game and fourth in two days with a two-run longball in the eighth inning off Omaha's Andres Machado.
On Wednesday, Hermosillo launched home runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
Hermosillo is now batting .253 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs over 46 games played in Triple A.
The Bees will open a four-game road series in Des Moines against the Iowa Cubs beginning today.
