Maximiliano Fraga, 54, Streator, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Broadway Street on complaints of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Fraga was released with a court date.
Streator police responded at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of West 10th Street for a report of a suspect driving through a yard causing damage to grass.
Streator police responded at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of South Otter Creek Street for a report of a vehicle being dented and scratched sometime between Sunday and Tuesday.
Streator police responded at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of East Broadway Street for a report of a scam caller claiming to be with the Social Security office. The complainant hung up the call without providing a Social Security number.
Streator police responded at 5:44 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of La Salle Street for a report of jewelry being stolen from the home. The incident remains under investigation.
La Salle County
Mathis Westbrooks, 47, Streator, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Richards Street in Streator on a La Salle County warrant for a felony charge of domestic battery. Westbrooks was taken to the county jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
Heather Rehor, 20, Ottawa, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of West Jackson Street on a La Salle County failure to appear in court warrant for a felony charge of theft. Rehor was taken to the county jail. Bond was set at $2,500.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 9:36 p.m. Monday to 400 E. Washington St. for an alarm caused by cooking smoke.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 1:38 p.m. Monday to 1211 W. Jackson St. for an alarm caused by burnt food.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 12:41 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of West Main Street for a report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot. No flames were visible but white smoke was pouring from the door handles. The interior of the vehicle was hosed down and the driver's side seat had a burn hole in it. The driver stated they were smoking a cigarette prior to parking and believed she tossed it out the window but was unsure if it had blown back in. The seat was a power seat and electrical wires were melted which may have caused the fire. The car was also making a clicking sound so the battery cables were cut.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 10:43 a.m. Monday to Stevenson Transfer, 300 W. Stevenson Road, for an alarm set off by an issue with the sprinkler system.
Streator firefighters responded at 8:37 p.m. Monday to Saratoga and 12th streets for a report of a natural gas leak. Nicor was contacted.
Streator firefighters responded at 10:29 p.m. Monday to 2 Northpoint Drive for a report of a cigarette ashtray on fire. The fire was out upon arrival.
