UAW hosts Scout breakfast, fundraiser

Funds will help pay for Scouting programs

The UAW Center will be hosting the Ottawa Founders Patrol Breakfast.

The fundraising event is scheduled for 7 a.m. to about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at the UAW Clubhouse, 1000 E. Center St.

More than 1,600 local children in the area are in the Scouting program. The program teaches children to be leaders in their community, workplace and family, among other skills.

It costs $303 per year for each Scout in the Illinois Valley. The goal of the event is to raise roughly $15,000 for the program. Attendees will be asked to make a donation to the program.

Dan Aussem is serving as chairman for the event. Table hosts are Tom Ditchfield, Maggie Frost, Sean Hamer, Brent Roalson and Katie Scheib. Matt Skelly will serve as the guest speaker.

The UAW Center is donating use of its facility and providing the breakfast at no cost to the Boy Scouts.

Call Aussem at 815-433-0161 if you plan on attending.
