SENECA — "With a heavy heart," Seneca softball head-coaching fixture Dan Stecken announced via social media Monday his plans to retire from coaching the Lady Irish for professional and family reasons.

Over the course of 14 seasons, Stecken accumulated a 321-168 record (with four regional championships — those captured in 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2018. This spring's Lady Irish lost 1-0 to Reed-Custer last Saturday in the Seneca 2A Regional title game, completing a 30-6 campaign.

"Representing the Lady Irish in this role has been the greatest professional achievement, as well as one of the greatest sources of pride I have had in my fourteen years at SHS," Stecken posted Monday on Twitter.
