Police Blotter 5-14-19

Streator

Streator police responded at 8:22 a.m. Monday to the 200 block of Morrell Street on a complaint of a suspect damaging a windshield. The incident is pending investigation.

La Salle County

Jacob Rada, 18, Mokena, was cited at 1:53 a.m. Sunday to the 2600 block of Route 71 on a complaint of unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.

Ryan Lathus, 18, Mokena, was cited at 1:52 a.m. Sunday to the 2600 block of Route 71 on a complaint of unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 years of age.

Edward Mercer, 38, Ottawa, was arrested at 5:11 p.m. Monday at his residence on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant on a charge of driving while license suspended. Mercer was taken to the county jail. Bond was set at $300.

Alexander Paku, 18, Sheridan, was cited at 6:16 p.m. Monday at East 2603rd and North 3689th Road in Mission Township on a complaint of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Paku was traveling south on East 2603rd Road when a vehicle driven by Leeann Linder, 47, Sheridan, slowed down to turn and Paku struck Linder's vehicle from behind. No injuries were reported.

Noel Hojnacki, 33, Ottawa, was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Monday at his residence on a La Salle County failure to appear warrant for a driving while license suspended charge. Hojnacki was taken to the county jail. Bond was set at $500.

Fire calls

Ottawa firefighters responded at 7:41 a.m. Monday to 1013 Adams St. for a report of a sulfur smell. Nicor was contacted and a plumbing vent issue was identified and a natural gas leak at a hot water heater that was shut down. The building was then tested without issue.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 3:47 p.m. Monday to 1022 Clinton St. for a report of a gas smell. Gas was undetected in the home but an extinguished pilot on the stove was relit.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 3:59 p.m. Monday to 906 Canal St. for an alarm set off by cooking smoke.

Streator firefighters responded at 3:42 p.m. Monday to 609 N. Everett St. for an alarm caused by cooking smoke.

Streator firefighters responded at 10:29 p.m. Monday to 609 N. Everett St. for an alarm caused by cooking smoke.

Streator firefighters responded at 8:57 a.m. Tuesday to OSF Center for Health, 111 Spring St., for an alarm caused by construction dust.
