An Ottawa lawyer plead guilty Friday to disorderly conduct in regard to an incident that occurred in March 2018.
James T. Reilly, 64, was arrested after a traffic stop at about 11 p.m. March 1 in Ottawa. Police said he failed to stop for a stop sign, then refused to exit his vehicle after police told him to do so for sobriety tests. Reilly was charged with disregarding a stop sign and resisting police.
The resisting charge was dismissed, but he entered a guilty plea for disorderly conduct.
Reilly was given three months supervision.
Reilly has been a public defender and runs a private law practice in Streator. He was represented by Ottawa lawyer Joseph Navarro. Circuit Judge Robert Marsaglia, who usually presides in Grundy County, handled Reilly's case to avoid conflict of interest.
